You are invited to step aboard and experience the joy of travelling with world-famous locomotive Tornado. You may think of steam trains as something from a by-gone age, but we bring history to life on our nostalgic tours across the country.
As a traditional steam locomotive, Tornado is powered by just coal and water to create the steam needed to turn the wheels. Expect the smell of smoke and the hiss of steam as you board, before the rhythmic beats from the chimney gain speed as we leave the station.
While Tornado looks reminiscent of something you see in a period drama, the engine is just 15 years old and is the first to be built in the UK since the 1960s. In the space of a decade, this special locomotive has broken records reaching 100mph, hauling the Royal Train, and appearing on screen in Top Gear and the Paddington 2 movie.
