The A1 Steam Locomotive Trust launches Top Link "living legacy" campaign.
The A1 Steam Locomotive Trust has always been a forward looking organisation, creating new build locomotives to overcome the challenges of an ever-changing modern railway. As we look to the future, in the short term we anticipate the A1, No. 60163 Tornado, back on the tracks, and the imminent arrival of thespectacular monobloc cylinder, the boiler, and the tender frames for the P2, No. 2007 Prince of Wales, all due before the end of the year. Longer term, however, we are seeking ways to secure the future of the Trust, shaping a sound strategic strategy to futureproof our activities and ensure our legacy.
We recognise that the scale of the Trust has grown since its inception in 1990 with the sole ambition of building an A1 Class steam locomotive. As the scope of activity has grown, our supporter numbers have expanded too. However, as we face the challenges of the future, larger, individual donations will help us to make confident strategic decisions to benefit our long-term operations, for years to come.
Top Link is our new initiative for supporters to consider their own legacies, and consider making a larger donation to the Trust, appreciating the impact their contribution makes. We understand that this won’t be accessible to everyone, however we are pleased to report that on launch we have around 20 supporters in Top Link who have this year alone donated in the region of £100,000 to the Trust, and we wish to recognise this formally. If you would like to make a donation to join this number, we would be delighted to assist you.
