We are pleased to announce the winners of the last two competitions run by the Trust in 2009.
The winner of the Barrow Hill competition in October was Mr John Farrell of Altrincham, Cheshire. Visitors to the Derbyshire railway centre were asked to guess the number of miles Tornado had travelled since her first moves in August 2008. The answer to this was 15,018 and Mr Farrell's guess of 15,035 was the closest.
The Severn Valley competition, which also took place in October, was to guess the number of miles Tornado would travel during her visit to the Severn Valley. The answer was 659 and Mr Jamie Osborne of Newport, Shropshire, was spot on with 659.
Thank you to everyone who entered our competitions in 2009 and look out for more in 2010. Indeed the first one has already started. Visitors to the National Railway Museum at York, where Tornado is currently based, are being asked to guess the weight of Tornado's front coupling links - with a £50 voucher for use in the A1 Steam Locomotive Trust shop up for grabs. If you are visiting the Museum, why not have a go?
