Barrow Hill Roundhouse announces postponement of 'The Fab Four' Steam Gala to April 2012
Following the news of further remedial work being required on A3 4472 Flying Scotsman and having had detailed discussions with the management and engineering teams at The National Railway Museum about the time required for those repairs to be carried out, it has been decided to postpone 'The Fab Four' Steam Gala that was due to take place on 14th - 16th October 2011. 'The Fab Four' Steam Gala will now take place on 13th, 14th, 15th April 2012. There will be a VIP and Press Preview day on Thursday 12th April.
By postponing the event, the potential of a late withdrawal of 4472 Flying Scotsman and the ensuing disappointment for visitors to the Gala has been avoided. All four previously advertised stars of the show will be present and we are grateful to the National Railway Museum and the owners of A1 60163 Tornado, A2 60532 Blue Peter and A4 4492 Dominion of New Zealand for making their locomotives available for the new dates. This event sees the return of Flying Scotsman to the Roundhouse after 38 years, the world famous locomotive having visited a Barrow Hill Open Day under British Rail ownership in 1974. An announcement about the other locomotives attending this Gala will be made shortly.
The event follows in the footsteps of previous Barrow Hill masterpieces in bringing together a stellar line up of locomotives to satisfy the most discerning palate in this unique and atmospheric venue. The event takes place over three days – 13th, 14th and 15th April 2012 between 10.00 and 5.00pm. There will be a VIP/Press preview day on 12th April 2012. Tickets will go on sale in January 2012.
