The A1 Steam Locomotive Trust, the registered charity behind the new steam locomotive 60163
Tornado, is delighted to announce the formation a group for younger
Tornado fans – and has already recruited the first members of the ‘Tornado Team’. They will be receiving their welcome packs shortly and we are looking forward to arranging our first Tornado Team day with them. This will be an opportunity for young people to spend a few hours with the locomotive at a heritage railway, meet some members of the team who look after
Tornado and learn a little about the work that goes on behind the scenes. The Trust will also be producing a dedicated newsletter which we hope Tornado Team members will contribute to themselves. The Trust regards this as one of its most important initiatives to date.
Alexa Stott, Covenantor Care Director, commented, “Here at the Trust we are very aware that the future care of Tornado will one day be the responsibility of today’s younger generation. We would like to foster a genuine care for and understanding of the locomotive in a group of young people from an early age in the hope that they will take on the responsibility that we currently bear.”
Tornado Team membership is for younger supporters of
Tornado aged between five and fifteen. Benefits of membership include a welcome pack of
Tornado goodies, a special birthday message and exclusive access to
Tornado during a Team event. Priced at only £25 per year, it would make a perfect birthday or Christmas present or to mark another memorable occasion. For more information go to
