Tornado is set to return to Leicestershire in March, don't miss your chance to drive or ride behind this new steam legend.
The Great Central Railway is delighted to confirm a return visit by Britain’s brand new steam locomotive, Peppercorn class A1 pacific No. 60163 Tornado.
The engine will work for three weekends at the GCR.
- An all steam weekend on March 20th – 21st
- A starring appearance at the three day 1960s gala 26th, 27th and 28th March
- And all through Easter from the 2nd to 6th of April.
But why ride in a carriage when you could be on the footplate? There will be 24 footplate passes available to enjoy a single trip between Loughborough and Leicester North during Tornado’s stay for £150 each. These include a day runabout ticket on the railway, a hot breakfast from the GCR griddle car and the footplate pass.
And why ride when you can drive?! A handful of the strictly limited driver experience package involving Tornado at the GCR are now on sale for £2250. You’ll have your hand on the regulator of Tornado for 2 return trips (32 miles), with a train behind the engine. You’ll also get to drive 2 return trips on another locomotive (a further 32 miles) while you PASS Tornado on the double track. It’s a full day out and unique opportunity – in short the experience of a lifetime and the chance to be part of the Tornado story.
