On Saturday December 4th, Tornado covers some new ground with an original tour to Bath. Hauled by 60163 Tornado throughout, the route is via Brent, Acton Wells, Kew, Virginia Water and Woking to Salisbury where the train pauses for a few minutes while 60163 takes water. The journey then continues via Westbury up the winding Avon Valley to Bath and Bristol.
Passengers have around three hours in elegant Bath, with its graceful terraces, interesting shops and pubs. At this time of year the city hosts a splendid Christmas Market, alongside the Abbey and Roman Baths. The station is well located and it is an easy almost level walk to all the attractions.
Alternatively customers can stay on board for a few more miles to Bristol Temple Meads to explore here instead. There is rather more walking here, but there is no shortage of things to do, especially around the Historic Dockyard where SS Great Britain is berthed.
The train returns by the same route and again there will be an opportunity to step off the train during the water stop in Salisbury.
