Following on from the continued success of the A4 Coronation Steam Dreams is excited to announce the first ever London to Edinburgh return trip exclusively hauled by newly built A1
Tornado. This historic trip, which will see
Tornado covering over 1,000 miles in the space of 3 days, will take place on the 18th to 20th of November. The outward journey will depart from London Kings Cross on Thursday the 18th of November with an expected departure time of 8:20am then follow in the footsteps of last years Top Gear race running almost non-stop from London to Edinburgh arriving in the Scottish Capital around nine hours after leaving London. The return leg will run from Edinburgh to London Euston on the 20th of November via the West Coast Main Line, the first steam hauled train to run from Scotland right through to London via this route since the 1960s.
Making up the final 270 miles of steam over the 3 days is an optional excursion on the 19th of November from Edinburgh to Carlisle heading out via Newcastle then back via Beattock and Carstairs traversing the hilly Shotts route on the way back to Edinburgh. Just at the start of the Christmas season this trip presents the perfect opportunity for a short getaway for some festive shopping with Edinburgh's wide range of shops providing something for everyone. Princes Street and George Street stretch for nearly a mile and offer designer stores as well as all the main high street brands sitting alongside top department stores. For those that wish to spend their time in Edinburgh nestled in the heart of the historic Old Town, the Grassmarket area is one of the most vibrant, picturesque and convivial areas of the city. A paradise of independent merchants, designers and artisans selling everything from luxurious knitwear to cutting edge fashions, antique books and unique gifts.
