An exhibition exploring the building of Britain’s newest main line steam locomotive, Peppercorn Class A1 60163 Tornado, opens at Locomotion: The National Railway Museum at Shildon on Saturday April 21, 2012. ‘The Tornado Story’ is the first exhibition of its kind, and examines the story of the first main line steam locomotive to be built in the UK since the 1960s.
The exhibition has been written by Mark Allatt, Chairman of The A1 Steam Locomotive Trust, and produced in association with the team at the Head of Steam Museum in Darlington.
‘The Tornado Story’ will be on display in the Collection Building at Locomotion: The National Railway Museum at Shildon until June 1, 2012.
