A rather grand day out re-tracing a major part of last year's famous BBC TV's Top Gear ‘Race to the North'. Tornado features again heading the special train all the way from York to Edinburgh and back, giving some three hours in Edinburgh for passengers to enjoy its many attractions and features.
Along the way it will be possible to enjoy the varied and rich rolling countryside, including numerous landmarks, that form the borderland between England and Scotland. There are also glimpses of the North Sea as the train runs along part of the attractive Northumbrian and Scottish coastline. And all from the comfort of a carriage seat!
On the return journey there is a rather special treat for everyone, as the train will take a break in historic Berwick-Upon-Tweed. Passengers will be able to join in the excitement as the famous 28 arch, Grade 1 listed Royal Border Bridge is lit up after the train's arrival. 2010 celebrates its 160th Anniversary. Queen Victoria did the opening honours all those years ago.
Departing at around 7pm, with whistle blowing and steam billowing, will bring darkness back to the bridge again*
