On Saturday 10th October,  60163 Tornado will journey across the roof of England with ‘The Cumbrian Mountain Tornado’. The train will travel over the rugged and popular Settle and Carlisle Line as it wends its way over and across the northern fells with the ground–breaking Tornado making one of her first runs over this spectacular and hilly route that will make the engine work really hard.

Tornado will haul the train, made up of mainly classic 1950s designed carriages, from Hellifield to Carlisle, giving a three hour break in the border city (14:15-17:10hrs), whilst the locomotive is turned and serviced, and the return journey will, due to engineering works, now feature Tornado, for the first time, from Carlisle to Preston, by way of Penrith, Shap Summit, Carnforth and Lancaster.

Organised by Pathfinder Tours, ‘The Cumbrian Mountain Tornado' will be diesel hauled out-bound from Worcester to Hellifield and on return from Preston back to Worcester. Having run light engine from York, Tornado will take over ‘The Cumbrian Mountain Tornado’ at Hellifield and hand back over to diesel traction at Preston:
