Following Tornado's arrival at Quorn and Woodhouse station on the Great Central Railway on Tuesday 19th August she was off-loaded on Wednesday 20th, the engine and tender re-coupled and moved to Loughborough shed. These events are recorded in photographs shown in the article " Tornado leaves Darlington and heads for the Great Central Railway".

Her fire was lit that evening and following a Fitness to Run examination on the morning of Thursday 21st August Tornado made two light engine runs that afternoon.

The next day Tornado's vacuum brakes were tested and then she took the GCR's directors' saloon down the line, propelling it back to Loughborough.

Upon her return she coupled up to her first train and did two round trips to Leicester North.

The bank holiday weekend has been the GCR's Thomas the Tank Engine weekend and so to fit in with that theme Tornado wore a face when making light engine movements durng the day. This has been followed by further evening runs using the test train, without the face.

We estimate that Tornado has now accumulated around 150 miles of fault-free running on the GCR.
