Tornado is to appear at the Mid Hants Spring Gala from the 5th/7th March 2010.

Tim Beere, Marketing Manager for the Mid Hants Railway ‘Watercress Line’ was beaming at the prospect of seeing Tornado at the railway.  He said ‘This is fantastic news.  Since the completion of such a mammoth project to build a mainline steam locomotive from scratch, Tornado has captured the hearts and minds of an audience who didn’t even know about steam trains, opening their senses to the amazing sights, sounds and smell these machines create.  It is very important for us as it encourages a new generation to be interested in our industrial history and railway heritage.  Having her here at the Mid Hants Railway for our Gala will allow even more people to see her and travel behind her’. He added ‘Our steam galas already attract thousands annually, but the prospect of seeing Tornado at the ‘Watercress Line’ for these 3 days with our own fleet of locomotives is something not to be missed’.

Further details about the Gala will be made available nearer the event, but will include some special double heading combinations, named train specials and freight trains utilizing our impressive fleet of wagons.
