As part of the work to install ETCS (European Train Control System) onto Tornado and other steam locomotives in the U.K. a supply of Turbo Generators is required. DB Meiningen of Germany were chosen to make an initial batch of three turbo-generators to support the prototype fitment.

At a visit on 8^th March the final supplier approval process was successfully completed. The turbo generators will now be dispatched ready for fitment ahead of active trials of ETCS in 2023.
